Beta is a name which you would associate with the second letter of Greek alphabet or rather the harmful radiations thing. However in the world of automobiles, Beta is known as a maker of off-road or better still Enduro bikes. Beta first started out as a bicycle manufacturing firm in 1904. It started making motorcycles in 1948. It earlier made 2 stroke bikes and then gradually in 1968, moved on to making 4 stroke trial bikes. It then moved onto 4 stroke off-road bikes. Its most synonymous bike is the Beta R 125 – 4t. It was developed in conjunction with Minarelli/Yamaha for their engine expertise and on the RR Enduro 125.

White plastic and black wheels signify the arrival of the Beta R 125 – 4t. It is targetted more at women and Beta have managed a significant female fan following with the Beta R 125 – 4t.  It is also has a watch on the learner section or the new rider. The 125 cc  4 stroke Yamaha motor is quite reliable and has a 5 speed gearbox derived from Suzuki. Having the more established names contributing their bits and parts makes the Beta R 125 – 4t an overall reliable and safe bike. Its weight has been also significantly reduced from the earlier 125 model and it now weighs in at a measly 102 Kgs. Its nimble chassis balances it both on-road and for its righteous purpose, off-road.


Its saddle height has been also lowered keeping in mind the female clientele. It now sits at a low 89 cm saddle. It has specially designed for it white and blue graphics as well as black rims and a practical carrier. The lower seat height also contributes in making it more at home on the road. It has a 50mm Marzocchi fork & triple clamps.The meters are simple to understand and are digital in nature.

A new Beta R 125 – 4t  retails for $2,876. At this price point, you have a fast moving, quite fuel efficient and dynamically aesthetic bike. An old Beta would be rare to find however when you find one, you should definitely look at its under carriage to see if there has been any off-roading damage. Other than that, the mechanicals need to have a thorough check done on them.
